Ilorin Gets 13th Chief Imam As Governor AbdulRazaq Hails Imam-Fulani’s Choice

The Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam-Fulani as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirtate in Kwara State.

The Emir made the announcement in a statement signed by his spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona.

The statement said that the Imam-Fulani’s appointment followed rigorous selection process. He succeeded Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu, who died on January 19, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has welcomed the appointment of the new Ilorin Chief Imam.

He congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate.

In a statement signed by the deputy chief press secretary to the Governor, AbdulRauf Agboola, the governor commended the Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the choice of the 42-year-old Sheikh Imam-Fulani to assume such a big responsibility.

“The choice of a young and vibrant Azhari scholar as the new Chief Imam Fulani reflects the commitment of our community, which His Royal Highness symbolises, to continue to mobilise different demographies of the Muslim ummah for greater good and development.

“I ask Allaah to guide and protect the new Chief Imam, perfect His blessings upon him, and give him long life and good health in the service of the ummah. I also urge everyone to rally round the new Chief Imam in the overall interest of our community,” Governor AbdulRazaq said.
