The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kogi State chapter, has condemned the attack on UBE Primary/Secondary School in Iluke, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, describing the incident as a tragic assault on education and public safety.

The party expressed grief over the killing of three persons during the attack, including the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Ganiyu Anifowose, Elder Sunday Jacob Alhassan, and a six-year-old pupil, Sunday Ayele.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Kogi State Chairman of the party, Tom Zakari , said the attack, reportedly alleged to have been carried out by armed men dressed in military uniforms, disrupted ongoing WAEC examinations and created panic in the community.

According to him, the incident represented an attack on the future of the state and underscored the growing security concerns facing rural communities.

He commended the swift intervention of security agencies, including the Nigerian military, police personnel, local vigilantes and hunters, whose response reportedly prevented a mass abduction of students.

The party noted that one of the attackers was neutralised during the operation while all students were rescued safely.

ADC called on the Kogi State Government and federal security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing attackers and strengthen security around schools, particularly in Kabba-Bunu and other vulnerable local government areas.

The party also urged authorities to accelerate work on the Iluke–Aiyetoro–Kiri–Abugi–Eggan road project, arguing that poor infrastructure and difficult access routes have contributed to insecurity in affected communities.

Reaffirming its solidarity with the people of Iluke and Bunu District, the party extended condolences to families of the victims and called for sustained measures to protect lives and educational institutions across the state.
