Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has commenced the roll out of power infrastructure, and installation of new transformers across its franchise areas to reinforce its network and improve power supply.

The power development initiative includes the installation of two 500 KVA transformers at AMAC Market, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), and the Tudun Wada areas of Lugbe District, to power over 1,000 homes and commercial shops.

Speaking on the development, the managing director of AEDC, Engr. Chijoke Okwuokenye, assured the consumers of electricity within the area of adequate and improved supply, saying that a sustainable power supply is significant to growth on both micro and macroeconomic scales.

He noted that industrial growth globally relied on sustainable power supply for increase in production and manufacturing.

Chijoke expressed confidence that consumers and residence of the areas, will start to enjoy fair and balanced supply of power.

He warned consumers of electricity to hold back on tampering with power installations, such as transformers, electricity meters and distribution cables.

In a thank you message, residents of the FHA Lugbe commended the management of the AEDC for timely intervention in providing and installing transformers to end long time inefficient supply of electricity in the area, saying improved supply is significant to economic growth and development.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr. Tony Njoku, who is a member of the AMAC Market traders association FHA Lugbe, said the community will take ownership of the power installation and protect it from vandalism.
