Switzerland launched their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group B campaign in style with a commanding 4-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, powered by a late attacking masterclass from Johan Manzambi.

After a goalless first half, the contest burst into life following the interval as both sides battled for control. Bosnia threatened through veteran striker Edin Džeko, while Switzerland’s defence, marshalled by Nico Elvedi, remained resolute.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 74th minute when Manzambi found space inside the area and calmly slotted home to give the Swiss a deserved lead.

Switzerland doubled their advantage 10 minutes later through Ruben Vargas. The forward combined brilliantly with Breel Embolo before finishing clinically to put the Europeans firmly in command at 2-0.

Manzambi then completed a memorable evening in the 90th minute, racing onto Vargas’ pass and firing past the Bosnian goalkeeper to make it 3-0 and effectively seal the result.

Bosnia and Herzegovina managed a consolation goal deep into stoppage time when Enes Mahmić struck in the 93rd minute, but it proved too little, too late as Switzerland comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.
