Nigerian singer and rapper Oludemilade Martin Alejolisten, best known as ‘Ycee’, has opened up about his absence from the music scene in recent years.
The Juice hitmaker spoke on the issue during a livestream with Carter Efe.
According to Ycee, he took a break from music to focus on personal growth. He said he spent time rediscovering himself before returning to the studio and the stage.
He said:
“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back.”
He also explained how he got the nickname “Omo Alhaji”. According to him, the name was inspired by his father’s Muslim background.
Before taking a break from music, Ycee was one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars. He released several hit songs, including ‘Jagaban’, ‘Juice’ and ‘Omo Alhaji’.
