The Kwara State Police Command has concluded a practical combat training programme for officers as part of efforts to strengthen operational capacity, professionalism, and overall crime-fighting effectiveness across the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.

According to the statement, the training was held at the Police Training School in Ilorin and forms part of the Inspector-General of Police’s broader capacity-building initiative aimed at developing a more professional, combat-ready, and operationally efficient police force.

The exercise was attended by the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, alongside members of the Command’s management team and divisional police officers.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, CP Ojo commended the participants for their discipline, coordination, and commitment throughout the programme, expressing satisfaction with the level of improvement demonstrated by the officers.

He noted that the training underscored the importance of continuous professional development and operational preparedness in modern policing.

According to him, the enhanced tactical competence displayed by participants highlights the value of regular training in strengthening police effectiveness and improving security outcomes.

CP Ojo further stated that the exercise aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to institutionalise intelligence-led policing, improve operational efficiency, and equip personnel with the skills required to respond effectively to emerging security threats.

He urged officers to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training in the discharge of their duties, particularly in efforts to enhance public safety across the state.
