The Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for their impartiality, which contributed to the peaceful conduct of the Ekiti governorship election across the state.

She also commended the voters for their patriotism, as demonstrated by the way they trooped out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility during Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Mrs. Afuye spoke after casting her vote at Polling Unit 003, Atiba/Aafin Ward 1, Ikere-Ekiti, on Saturday during the June 20 governorship election.

She said, “I have to commend INEC as well as our security agencies. They really prepared for this election. You can see that nobody is being intimidated, and I believe that if we continue like this, this election may turn out to be the best in Ekiti’s history.

“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only have they come out, but they are also ready and eager to take part in the voting process. I am indeed impressed with the conduct of our voters.

“I am not using Ikere as the only area of focus. We are receiving the same reports from some of our local governments and towns about how voters are coming out in large numbers. I am happy about this. It shows that the rigorous campaigns we conducted yielded positive results.”
