NSE Tasks New Excos On Community Projects

The National President Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Tasiu Gidari-Wudil has urged the newly inaugurated chairman and members of the  Abuja Branch to give back to their communities by providing services that’s beneficial to them.

Gidari-Wudil made the call on Saturday during the inauguration ceremony of Engr Benjamin Osy Okoh as the 19th chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers NSE, Abuja Branch, held at the society headquarters in Abuja.

Wudil who was represented by the vice president, NSE, Engr Margaret Aina Oguntala, advised the new members to work together as a team.

”Use your expertise and experience to construct such projects or repair ailing ones in the interest of your communities.

“I urged you the new board members to embark on the community projects as this would help in encourage the young engineers,” he said.

He also called on the NSE members to give the new leadership the maximum support they desire

Also speaking, the 19th chairman of NSE Abuja Branch, Engr Ben Osy Okoh said “as part of our corporate social responsibility and community engineering programme, we have identified Maraba Takushara,

a community in Apo Abuja, which was described by the World Bank assisted report as “As an FCT community under sieve” to offer our community support services.

He said, “Given the continuous abuse and vandalism of engineering infrastructures in the FCT, Okoh said that the society will carry out a campaign to sensitise the public on the dangers and implications of these ugly acts.”

According to him, the society is working on training students of Faculty of Engineering, University of Abuja, on different engineering software.

Going further, the NSE Abuja Branch, newly inaugurated chairman also revealed that they have concluded plans with the FCT Secondary Education Board to hold first edition of the FCT Secondary Schools talent hunt competition in January 2023. Adding that the scholarship will be given to the winners of the competition.

He also said that the society would also carry on advocacy campaign, awareness campaign, community outreach programmes, interact with stakeholders and participants in the profession and industry, offer support and input to the FCT government concerning all engineering aspects.
