Despite opposition from 10 governorship aspirants and some elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the chairmen of the party across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State have reaffirmed that the party’s governorship primary was convincingly won by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu.

The party chairmen insisted that the primary election that produced Danladi-Salihu as the APC governorship candidate was duly conducted, transparent, and credible.

They declared that Danladi-Salihu emerged as the validly nominated governorship candidate of the party.

They also passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, describing his administration as a stabilising force that has strengthened unity and internal democracy within the APC in the state.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of All APC Local Government Chairmen in Kwara State, Hon. Suleiman Tejidini; the Secretary, Hon. Moshood of Offa Local Government; and the Public Relations Officer, Hon. Adamu Abubakar of Baruten Local Government, the chairmen insisted that the party’s primary election was validly conducted and that its outcome was widely accepted.

They noted that, “The governorship primary was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and produced Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as the duly elected flag bearer after a competitive process involving other aspirants. The primary election was held successfully, the process was transparent, and Rt. Hon. Danladi-Salihu clearly won in line with the votes announced by the APC Primary Election Committee.”

They added that the emergence of the candidate reflected the collective will of party stakeholders across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The chairmen restated their support for Governor AbdulRazaq, stating that his leadership has continued to promote cohesion, discipline, and development within the party structure.

They urged party members and the general public to disregard divisive narratives capable of undermining unity, stressing that the APC in Kwara State remains solidly united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections.
