INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Ekiti Governor-Elect Oyebanji

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday formally presented the certificate of return to Governor Biodun Oyebanji following his victory in the Ekiti State governorship election.

The presentation ceremony took place at the INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti and was attended by political party leaders, supporters, and election stakeholders.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of the Saturday, June 20, 2026 governorship poll.

According to official results announced by the electoral body on Sunday, Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rival, Dr Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 40,543 votes. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 12,872 votes.

INEC said a total of 15 political parties participated in the election, which was conducted across the state’s local government areas under heightened security and monitoring.
