Davidhall International College of Lagos State and Ado Grammar School of Ekiti State have secured qualification for the 26th MILO Basketball Championship National Finals after emerging champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively at the Western Conference qualifiers.

The two schools clinched the final tickets to the championship showpiece following a series of fiercely contested matches that showcased the growing standard of school basketball across the region.

A total of nine schools competed in each category, battling for the coveted places at the national finals. The tournament produced thrilling encounters, with both champions demonstrating resilience, skill and determination on their path to victory.

In the girls’ category, Ado Grammar School made history by qualifying for the National Finals for the first time. The Ekiti State side edged Lanreleke Academy of Osun State 53-49 in a closely fought final, holding their nerve in the closing stages to seal a memorable triumph.

The victory capped an impressive campaign for the school and marked a major milestone in its basketball development programme.

The boys’ final delivered even more drama, with Davidhall International College emerging victorious after a nail-biting contest against God’s Blessings Comprehensive College of Oyo State. The Lagos-based school secured an exhilarating 82-81 win in one of the most thrilling matches of the competition, booking their place at the National Finals in dramatic fashion.

Speaking after the event, Category Manager for MILO at Nestlé Nigeria Plc, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, reiterated the brand’s commitment to nurturing young talent through sport.

“At MILO, we believe sport is one of the most powerful tools for shaping character and developing future leaders,” he said.

“Through the Basketball Championship, we continue to provide young people with opportunities to build discipline, resilience, teamwork and determination — qualities that will benefit them both on and off the court.”
