The Netherlands secured first place in Group F with an impressive 3-1 victory over Tunisia, racing into an early two-goal lead before comfortably seeing out the contest.

Ronald Koeman’s side made the perfect start, scoring twice within the opening seven minutes to take complete control of the match and book a Round of 32 meeting with Group C runners-up Morocco in Monterrey.

The Dutch were gifted the opening goal after less than three minutes when Tunisia captain Ellyes Skhiri inadvertently turned Denzel Dumfries’ cross into his own net.

They doubled their advantage moments later through Brian Brobbey, who scored his third goal of the tournament by tapping home after Virgil van Dijk headed a cross back across the face of goal.

With a commanding lead established, the Netherlands dominated possession and created further chances against a Tunisia side that struggled to match their intensity and movement.

Tunisia briefly threatened a comeback midway through the second half after a lapse in concentration from the Dutch defence.

Manchester City’s Tijjani Reijnders failed to track Hazem Mastouri from a corner, allowing the Tunisian forward to head into the bottom corner and reduce the deficit.

However, any hopes of a revival were quickly extinguished.

Jan Paul van Hecke restored the Netherlands’ two-goal cushion when his near-post header from a corner took a slight deflection off a Tunisia defender before finding the net.

The victory ensured the Netherlands finished as Group F winners with an unbeaten record, while Tunisia exited the tournament without a point after suffering a third successive defeat and conceding 12 goals across their group-stage campaign.
