Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has said members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, who sustained injuries during an ambush in the Old Oyo National Park have fully recovered.
Igboho made the disclosure in a video released on Sunday, in which he also dismissed rumours about his health, assuring supporters in Nigeria and abroad that he was safe.
Addressing his followers, he thanked them for their concern and said the injured operatives had recovered from the wounds they sustained during the operation.
“I greet you, my fathers and mothers. It’s your son, Sunday Igboho. My brothers and sisters all over the world, today is the 28th of June, 2026. Rumours have been going around, but I’m using this opportunity to tell all my loved ones around the world that I am okay.
“Those who sustained injuries are now okay. We will not rest until we ensure that those disturbing the peace of our land depart,” he said.
His remarks come days after members of the Iru Ekun outfit were reportedly attacked during what was described as a security operation inside the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State.
According to reports, the operatives had entered the forest reserve to track suspected kidnappers and other armed groups allegedly using the area as a hideout.
Sources familiar with the operation said the team deployed surveillance drones to locate suspected camps and monitor movements before advancing into the forest.
The operation reportedly turned into a gun battle after armed men allegedly opened fire on the operatives.
Several members of the Iru Ekun team were reported to have sustained injuries during the exchange, although no fatalities were officially confirmed.
Despite the incident, Igboho said the attack would not deter the outfit from continuing its operations against criminal groups allegedly responsible for insecurity in parts of the South-West.
He maintained that Iru Ekun remained committed to supporting efforts aimed at improving security and restoring peace in communities affected by kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Iru Ekun outfit were also reported to have arrested a group of men identified by the outfit as suspected Fulani travellers along the Ikare-Akoko axis of Ondo State.
According to the reports, the men were intercepted on Saturday, while one of the suspects allegedly attempted to flee into a nearby bush before he was apprehended.
The suspects were said to be in the custody of the outfit as investigations continued.
However, the specific allegations against the men have not been disclosed, and it was not immediately clear whether they had been handed over to the police or any other law enforcement agency. LEADERSHIP could not independently verify the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
