Kogi State Police Command has sympathised with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, following the recent road accident involving its members.
In a statement issued on behalf of the commissioner of police, , CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, the command described the incident as unfortunate and expressed solidarity with the injured journalists, their families and the entire media community.
The statement, signed by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Afusat Oyiza Saliu, acknowledged the vital role journalists play in keeping the public informed despite the risks associated with their profession.
“The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, is deeply saddened by the unfortunate road accident involving our journalist colleagues in the state. We extend our heartfelt prayers and solidarity to the injured journalists, their families and the entire media community,” he said.
The command also joined the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, and the people of Kogi State in praying for the speedy and complete recovery of all those injured in the accident.
Reaffirming its support for the media, the Police Command assured journalists of its continued commitment to their safety and protection while carrying out their constitutionally guaranteed responsibilities.
