Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Wednesday swore in two new Kadis of the Upper Sharia Court, urging them to dispense justice with fairness, integrity and the fear of Allah in line with the oath of office they have taken.

The newly appointed Kadis, Kadi Ibrahim Abdullahi Yakubu Dandume and Kadi Bala Salisu Daura, were recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) and subsequently approved by the Governor. Their inauguration took place at the Government House in Katsina.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Radda described the appointments as a significant step toward strengthening the administration of justice and boosting public confidence in the state’s Sharia judicial system.

He reminded the new judicial officers that the oath they had taken was a sacred covenant before God and the people, stressing that it encapsulates the responsibilities expected of them.

“On occasions like this, I do not usually make a lengthy speech because whatever I am going to say has already been contained in the oath of office you have just taken. If you carefully reflect on that oath, there is hardly anything more that needs to be said. You know the responsibility you have accepted, and you know what you have sworn to uphold,” the governor said.

Radda said the effective and impartial administration of justice remains essential to peace, stability and harmonious coexistence, especially at a time when fairness and equity are critical to maintaining public confidence in institutions.

“At a critical time like this, when the fair and impartial dispensation of justice is essential to peace, harmony and peaceful coexistence, you have a great responsibility to serve the people and the state with integrity, fairness and the fear of Allah,” he added.

The Governor also commended the Katsina State Judiciary, led by the Chief Judge, for its commitment to justice delivery and assured judicial officers of his administration’s continued support.

He called on all institutions to work together in sustaining peace and security across the state, noting that justice remains indispensable to development.

“We do not have any state better than Katsina. Therefore, all of us must continue to work together, cooperate and remain united in making Katsina State a better place for all our people,” he said.

Kadi Ibrahim Abdullahi Yakubu Dandume began his judicial career in 1992 as a registrar in both the Magistrate and Sharia Courts before rising to the rank of Upper Sharia Court Judge I. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in Common and Islamic Law from Bayero University, Kano, and has contributed to research on the administration of Sharia justice in Katsina State.

Similarly, Kadi Bala Salisu Daura has served in the Katsina State Judiciary for over three decades, progressing from Assistant Registrar to Upper Sharia Court Judge II. He earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in Sharia and Civil Law from Al-Nahda International University and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws.
