2027: We’ll Not Allow Opposition Distract Tinubu – APC Deputy Chair Nwoye

Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Benjamin Nwoye, has called on former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other critical party stakeholders to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

He said as the opposition continues to regroup, it is their responsibility not to allow it distract Tinubu but to sensitise Nigerians that the president remains the best option for the country.

Nwoye stated this when he received members of the G-37, a group of former state chairmen of the defunct ACN and other legacy party leaders who paid him a solidarity visit at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja yesterday.

The APC deputy national chairman who is also a former ACN state chairman, assured his colleagues and other founding members of the party that President Tinubu does not forget loyal party faithful, urging members to remain steadfast as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

He said although not every loyal member had secured political appointment, Tinubu remained a leader who values commitment and sacrifice.

“My plea is that you should remain steadfast. Asiwaju is not someone who forgets. By the grace of God, he has a good memory.

“As the opposition continues to regroup, it is our responsibility not to allow them distract our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We must mobilise our members, reconnect with them and reignite their energy. We have no better option than to re-elect a man who has a clear vision for reforming Nigeria,” Nwoye said.

Highlighting achievements of the Tinubu administration, Nwoye pointed to ongoing road infrastructure projects across different parts of the country, saying Nigerians were already benefiting from the government’s development initiatives.

He also stressed the need for the APC to continue recognising its founding members, saying the sacrifices of those who built the party should never be forgotten even as new members are welcomed into its fold.

Earlier, leader of the G37, Comrade Cletus Obum, appealed to the party leadership to ensure that legacy members who laid the foundation of the APC are given greater consideration in appointments, committee memberships and election assignments.

Obum said recognising the pioneers of the party would strengthen loyalty and preserve the progressive ideals upon which the APC was built, adding that the group remained committed to the success of President Tinubu and the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We appeal to you to continue advocating for us. This is not about division. It is about recognising those who built the house so they are not left outside in the rain.

“Even if only a fraction of these members are given opportunities, it will go a long way in strengthening loyalty and commitment,” he said.
