Karolina Muchova saved a match point before coming through an extraordinary deciding-set tie-break to beat Coco Gauff 6-2 1-6 7-6 (12-10) and reach her second Grand Slam final, where she will face fellow Czech Linda Noskova.
The 10th seed started strongly but was dragged into a high-quality battle by the seventh seed, who fought back from 4-1 down in the final-set tie-break.
Gauff had match point on her serve but sent a simple forehand into the net tape, while Muchova missed her first opportunity before finally clinching victory after two hours and 35 minutes on Centre Court.
Earlier, 21-year-old Noskova reached her first major final with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Marta Kostyuk. She becomes the youngest Wimbledon finalist since Jelena Ostapenko in 2018 and is guaranteed to return to the world’s top 10.
Saturday’s final will be the first all-Czech women’s Grand Slam final and the first Wimbledon final between two players from the same nation since Serena and Venus Williams met in 2009.
Noskova heads into the match with more grass-court wins than any player on Tour over the past two years.
