Nice Confirm Moffi Will Leave Club Permanently This Summer

OGC Nice sporting director Roger Ricort has confirmed that Nigerian striker Terem Moffi will leave the Ligue 1 club on a permanent transfer before the close of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old returned to Nice for pre-season training on Wednesday after Portuguese champions FC Porto decided against activating the €8 million option to buy him following his loan spell during the second half of last season.

Moffi has been seeking a move away from the French club since he and teammate Jeremie Boga were confronted by supporters following Nice’s defeat to Lorient in November.

While Boga completed a loan move to Juventus in January, which has since been made permanent, Moffi’s future remained unresolved until Ricort confirmed that the Nigeria international no longer features in the club’s plans.

“He is one of the players we want to leave,” Ricort told GFFN. “He will surely be transferred elsewhere. We don’t necessarily respect the man, but we will respect the player. At the moment, he knows that he won’t be able to play for Nice any more.”

The comments leave little doubt that Moffi’s time at the Allianz Riviera is coming to an end, with the club now actively seeking a buyer before the transfer deadline.

Moffi joined Nice from Lorient in 2023 and scored 17 goals in 56 appearances across all competitions. Despite showing flashes of his quality, his spell on the French Riviera has been overshadowed by inconsistency and off-field tensions.

With Porto opting against a permanent deal, the Super Eagles forward is now expected to attract interest from clubs across Europe as he searches for the next chapter of his career.

Although no potential destination has emerged publicly, a permanent departure from Nice appears inevitable before the summer transfer window closes.
