Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s Northeast have commended President Bola Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general elections, describing the move as a reward for loyalty, competence and inclusive leadership.

This is contained in a statement issued by the coordinating chairman of the Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum, Comrade Haruna Sardauna, and signed by the forum’s publicity secretary, Hon. Abubakar Babake.

According to the forum, President Tinubu’s decision has rekindled hope across the Northeast and strengthened confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The group described Shettima as “the most loyal, dependable, and result-oriented Vice President in Nigeria’s history,” noting that his performance in office has justified the confidence reposed in him by President Tinubu and the ruling party.

Babake said the Vice President’s re-nomination was not only a recognition of his outstanding service but also a reaffirmation of the strategic importance of the Northeast in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“This is about continuity, stability, and rewarding dedicated service,” he said.

The forum recalled that it played a leading advocacy role in securing the vice-presidential slot for the Northeast during the 2023 general elections and expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for maintaining the zoning arrangement.

“We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for retaining the vice-presidential slot in the Northeast through the re-nomination of Vice President Kashim Shettima. This decision reflects fairness, equity, and sound political judgment,” the statement read.

Sardauna further assured President Tinubu that youths across the Northeast would mobilise massively to deliver overwhelming support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in the 2027 elections.

“Our youths account for over 70 per cent of registered voters in the Northeast. As the largest voting bloc in the region, we will mobilise extensively to support the APC and reciprocate this demonstration of trust and inclusion. The Northeast will not disappoint Mr President,” he said.

He added that the region was committed to delivering at least 70 per cent of the votes for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket as a mark of appreciation for the President’s confidence in the Northeast.

The forum also noted that retaining the vice-presidential slot in the Northeast carries symbolic significance for a region that bore the brunt of the Boko Haram insurgency. It commended the Tinubu administration for reconstruction programmes, humanitarian interventions, and sustained efforts to improve security and economic development across the zone.

According to Sardauna, the administration has restored hope through infrastructure development, inclusive governance, and targeted interventions aimed at rebuilding communities affected by the insurgency.

“The allocation of the Vice Presidency to the Northeast is also a recognition of the resilience of our people. With ongoing reconstruction programmes and sustained security interventions, our region is witnessing renewed hope and recovery,” he said.

He added that Shettima’s re-nomination underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to consolidating progress and ensuring continuity in governance.

The Northeast APC Youth Critical Stakeholders Forum also called on party members, traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society organisations across the region to unite behind the Tinubu/Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This is our opportunity to demonstrate our gratitude through the ballot. We are prepared, mobilised, and fully committed to delivering victory for the APC in 2027,” Sardauna declared.
