The man seen in a viral video carrying a girl many social media users believed to be underage has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the clip was staged purely for entertainment.
In a follow-up video shared online, he claimed the footage did not depict a real relationship and said the girl featured in the video is his neighbour’s daughter.
Addressing Nigerians, he said, “Nigerians, here is Bisola’s mum confirming that we were only creating content. She is always with us whenever we make these videos.”
The girl’s mother also appeared in the video, urging the public not to misinterpret the content.
According to the man, “I’m only creating reality content. This girl is not my wife; she is my neighbour’s daughter. I have not done anything with her. Nigerians, please forgive me; it was just content.”
The clarification comes after the original video triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern over its nature and calling on the relevant authorities to investigate.
Despite the explanation, many social media users remained unconvinced. While a few argued that the backlash would likely have been less intense if the roles had been reversed, many others said the content was irresponsible and should attract legal consequences. Some called for the girl to be placed in the care of appropriate authorities and for everyone involved in producing the video to be investigated. Others urged content creators to avoid making videos that could be interpreted as promoting or normalising inappropriate relationships, warning that the pursuit of online engagement should not come at the expense of public decency or child protection.
