The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM), Rev. William Okoye, describing him as “a titan” and “a champion of truth and righteousness.”
In a statement issued on Friday by its Media Bureau, PFN National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, said the late cleric was one of Nigeria’s revered fathers of the Christian faith and a member of the fellowship’s National Advisory Council.
Oke described Okoye as a devoted servant of God, exemplary church leader and respected statesman whose ministry impacted countless lives in Nigeria and beyond.
“He was a bridge builder, a man of peace and conflict resolution. He founded the All Christians Fellowship Mission over 50 years ago, which stands as one of the earliest Pentecostal churches in the nation’s capital, and served as the General Overseer until his call to heaven,” Oke said.
According to him, Okoye’s unwavering commitment to preaching the Gospel, discipleship and national transformation left an enduring legacy that would continue to inspire generations.
“PFN acknowledges his invaluable contributions to the growth of the Pentecostal movement in Nigeria and his unwavering support for Christian unity, righteousness and godly leadership. His life was a shining testimony of faithfulness, humility, integrity and sacrificial service to God and humanity,” he added.
Highlighting the late cleric’s contributions to national development, Oke noted that Okoye served as chaplain to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, among other national assignments.
He also recalled the late minister’s leadership roles within the PFN and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), including serving as Chairman of CAN in the Federal Capital Territory and as the first Chairman of the PFN in the FCT in the early 1980s.
“Rev. (Dr.) William Okoye has left us and gone to heaven. A titan has gone home. The eagle has landed in glory. A champion of truth and righteousness has left the earth for the house of his heavenly Father,” Oke said.
On behalf of the PFN’s founding fathers, National Advisory Council, National Executive Council and members nationwide, the PFN president extended condolences to Okoye’s family, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship Mission and the wider Christian community.
“We pray that the God of all comfort will strengthen and uphold everyone grieving this great loss. Though we mourn his departure, we rejoice in the assurance that he has finished his earthly race faithfully and has entered into the eternal presence of our Lord. May his remarkable legacy continue to inspire the Church to greater dedication to the cause of Christ,” he said.
According to the statement, Okoye is survived by his wife, five children and the All Christians Fellowship Mission, while funeral arrangements will be announced by the family and the church in due course.
