Super Eagles star Emmanuel Fernandez has dismissed speculation over a Rangers exit, insisting he has “more of the story to go on” at Ibrox despite interest from Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international, who joined from Peterborough United for £3.5million last summer, was named Rangers’ Player of the Season and earned a spot in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.
But the centre-back, who has four years left on his contract, made it clear he’s in no hurry to leave.
“I just focus on what’s going on here,” Fernandez told the Scottish Sun. “I’ve got four years left and I want to enjoy it. I want to win.
“Love and acknowledgement is a great thing, but I’m not the finished product. There’s still more of the story to go on.”
Fernandez also praised new manager Derek McInnes, revealing the boss has already given him specific defensive drills to work on during pre-season.
“He showed me things I need to improve on – mainly box defending, sussing out danger,” said Fernandez. “He told me stuff I already knew I needed to work on, and that’s why you have pre-season.”
