Gombe State  Governor , Inuwa  Yahaya on Saturday swore in 23 commissioners and assigned them portfolios, charging the newly appointed commissioners, special advisers and permanent secretaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering effective governance with integrity and commitment.

The governor urged the new appointees to immediately assume their responsibilities, stressing that his administration had entered its final year and there was little time to make a meaningful impact.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony in Gombe, Yahaya said the state was gradually moving into the election season, making it imperative for members of the new cabinet to focus on service delivery rather than spend time learning the workings of government.

“You have less than a year to make your mark. There is absolutely no time for learning or institutional orientation. You must hit the ground running immediately,” he said.

He said the commissioners would play a critical role in implementing government policies and programmes, while directing the newly appointed special advisers to provide innovative and strategic advice that would accelerate the delivery of his administration’s agenda.

The governor also tasked permanent secretaries with strengthening administrative efficiency, promoting transparency and accountability, and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks in the public service to ensure effective policy implementation.
