Fulani socio-cultural organisations in Kwara State have thrown their weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election, while also passing a vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The former Special Adviser on Strategy to the state governor, Abdulsalam Atiku, announced the decision of the groups during a meeting attended by leaders of Miyetti Allah, Gam-Allah, Jamu Naati Fulbe and other Fulani associations.

Atiku said the decision followed extensive consultations among stakeholders and was aimed at sustaining the achievements of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He described the APC governorship candidate, Danladi-Salihu, as a leader with the experience, competence and vision to consolidate ongoing developmental programmes across the state.

“Our support is founded on the expectation that his administration will promote inclusive governance where every community has a sense of belonging, strengthen security across the state, modernise and expand nomadic education infrastructure, empower pastoralists, farmers and youths, promote women’s development, and foster peaceful coexistence as the foundation for sustainable growth and prosperity,” Atiku said.

He urged members of the Fulani community and other stakeholders to remain united and work for the success of the APC in the 2027 general election.

Atiku expressed confidence that the party would record another electoral victory, similar to those recorded in 2019 and 2023.

The Kwara State chapter of the Fulbe Development and Cultural Organisation (FUDECO) also passed a vote of confidence in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation, its chairman, Hon. Saliu Sanda, commended the governor for what he described as his inclusive leadership and developmental achievements across the state.

Sanda said the Fulani community appreciated the administration for giving it a sense of belonging through the appointment of qualified members into strategic public offices.

“On behalf of the Fulani communities and associations in Kwara State, we reaffirm our confidence in your leadership and respectfully assure Your Excellency of our continued support for your administration and the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

We equally wish to state that we will continue to stand by and support candidates presented by our great party at the national, state and local levels, while working tirelessly to promote peace, unity and progress within our communities,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the Ardo of Baruten, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf, commended the APC for the choice of Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as its governorship candidate, saying Kwara North deserved the ticket in recognition of its loyalty to the party and in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.
