Kaduna State governor Uba Sani, has announced that construction of the proposed N1 trillion Kaduna Light Rail Project will commence within the next two months, saying contractors have already been mobilised to site.

The governor attributed the project to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he said facilitated the siting of key federal government infrastructure projects in Kaduna State, including the light rail scheme.

Governor Sani made the disclosure while flagging off 11 road projects across Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas at Fillin Mallawa.

He said President Tinubu has consistently supported Kaduna State’s infrastructure drive over the past three and a half years, enabling the execution of critical road and transport projects.

According to him, Kaduna and Lagos are the only states currently benefiting from the Federal Government’s light rail initiative, describing the project as a major boost to urban transportation and economic development.

“In the next two months, work will commence on the Kaduna Light Rail Project because contractors have already been mobilised,” the governor said.

He also disclosed that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road would take place within the next week, noting that the Federal Government had released over N100 billion for the project.

“In the next one week, the groundbreaking of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road, which stretches from Kaduna to Birnin Gwari town, will be performed. The President has paid N100,000,078,000 for the project,” he said.

Governor Sani said the ongoing developmental projects in Kaduna were made possible through the support and cooperation of residents with both the state and Federal Government.

Speaking on the 11 road projects flagged off in Zaria and Sabon Gari, he assured residents that the projects would be completed and commissioned within the next five months.

Also speaking at the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said President Tinubu has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Kaduna State through unprecedented investments in infrastructure.

He maintained that the President’s interventions have positioned Kaduna among the leading beneficiaries of federal government development projects.
