Gov Bala Mohammed Woos Tunisian Investors For Power, Water Projects

Governor Bala Mohammed has disclosed that the Bauchi State government is seeking strategic partnerships with Tunisian authorities and investors to implement key development projects in electricity, water supply and security as part of efforts to address critical infrastructure and socio-economic challenges across the state.

The governor made this known during a bilateral meeting with a high-powered Tunisian delegation led by the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, at the government house in Bauchi.

Mohammed said the state government was prioritising off-grid solar energy solutions to provide reliable electricity to hospitals, government offices and water facilities, explaining that the initiative would reduce dependence on fossil fuel-powered generators while improving the delivery of essential public services.

He also identified insecurity as one of the state’s major challenges. He stressed the need for advanced surveillance technology to strengthen forest monitoring and support security agencies in tackling banditry and other criminal activities.

The governor further highlighted the importance of expanding access to affordable, sustainable potable water, saying the state is exploring cost-effective technologies to improve water supply to underserved local government areas without imposing excessive financial burdens on residents.

Earlier, the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, said the visit was aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between Tunisia and Nigeria while exploring investment opportunities in Bauchi State.

The delegation, comprising engineers and business leaders, had earlier inspected key infrastructure across the state to assess the feasibility of the proposed projects before implementation decisions were taken.
