Plateau State governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has described the dualisation and construction of the Mararaban Jamaa’re–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam–River Ibi Road as a landmark project and a historic intervention that will unlock the state’s economic potential.

He said the project would also strengthen regional integration and improve the quality of life of millions of Plateau people and other Nigerians.

Mutfwang stated this in a statement issued by his director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere.

The governor said the approval of the strategic federal highway was a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive national development and his determination to bridge infrastructure gaps across the country.

According to him, the project would facilitate the movement of people and goods, reduce transportation costs, boost agricultural production and commerce, attract investments, promote tourism, and enhance social and economic interactions across the region.

“This approval is not just about the construction of a road; it is about restoring hope, expanding economic opportunities, creating jobs, opening up rural communities, and accelerating the development of the North Central and North-East corridors.

It is a project that will positively impact generations to come,” the Governor stated.

Governor Mutfwang expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for listening to the aspirations of the people of Plateau and responding with decisive action. He described the President as a dependable ally and partner whose administration has continued to demonstrate genuine concern for the well-being, peace, and development of Plateau State.

The Governor also commended the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for his strategic engagement and unwavering commitment to the development of Plateau State. “My dear brother,  the  APC National Chairman,  I want to say thank you for conveying the yearnings of our people to Mr President! Indeed, the award of this long-awaited road corridor has renewed the hope of our people in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. Thank you for your leadership and partnership”, said Governor Mutfwang.

He equally praised the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, CON, for his dedication, professionalism and determination in driving the Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda, which has culminated in the approval of the transformative road project.

He called on the people of Plateau State, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations, to continue supporting the ongoing partnership aimed at attracting more federal projects and investments to the State. He urged citizens to remain united and continue offering constructive advice and prayers as the administration pursues its vision of building a peaceful, secure and prosperous Plateau.

He expressed confidence that upon the completion and commissioning of the road, President Tinubu’s name would be permanently engraved in the hearts of the people of Plateau and Taraba States for delivering one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region’s history.

According to the Governor, the project will also stand as a fitting tribute to the enduring dreams and development aspirations of eminent Plateau and Middle Belt leaders, including former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon; former Governor and Senator Jonah David Jang; former Governor Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye; the late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, the pioneer civilian Governor of Plateau State; General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma; former Governor and Senator Simon Bako Lalong; the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; and all leaders who have consistently advocated for the opening up of the region through strategic infrastructure development.

Governor Mutfwang assured the people of Plateau State that his administration would continue to deepen its collaboration with the Federal Government in pursuit of peace and security, as well as projects and programmes that will improve livelihoods, stimulate economic growth, and position Plateau State as the preferred destination for investment, tourism, and enterprise.
