FIFA has confirmed the prize money for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with newly crowned champions Spain earning $50 million after their triumph over Argentina in the final.

Spain secured a record fourth World Cup title with a hard-fought 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Barcelona forward Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 108th minute to hand La Roja the trophy and the tournament’s biggest financial reward.

The $50 million prize represents Spain’s highest-ever World Cup payout, reflecting FIFA’s increased investment in the expanded 48-team tournament.

Despite falling short in the final, Argentina will receive $33 million as runners-up. The payout brings a lucrative conclusion to Lionel Messi’s final FIFA World Cup appearance, although it ended in disappointment after the Albiceleste failed to retain the title they won in Qatar in 2022.

Argentina’s runners-up prize is also an increase on the $30 million awarded to France after the 2022 World Cup final.

England, who defeated France 6-4 in a thrilling third-place play-off, will receive $29 million for finishing third, while France take home $27 million after placing fourth.
