Troops of Sector 2, “Operation Hadin Kai” (OPHK) have foiled a terrorist mission to extort innocent civilians in Yobe State, further degrading Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist networks and denying them access to illicit sources of funding.

Acting on credible and actionable intelligence on the movement of two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles conveying suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists to collect illegal levies from local communities, troops of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukarti, in conjunction with 27 Task Force Brigade, swiftly deployed on an aggressive fighting patrol to the Paya Kafiya axis on 19th July, 2026.

A statement issued yesterday in Maiduguri by the acting military information officer of OPHK , Capt Mohammed Goni, said the troops made contact with the terrorists and immediately engaged them with overwhelming and superior firepower.

Goni said during the ensuing firefight, one of the Volkswagen Golf vehicles was immobilised and its driver was neutralised.

He said unable to withstand the troops’ overwhelming combat superiority, four other terrorists abandoned the vehicle and fled into the surrounding bush with gunshot wounds.

The OPHK spokesman added that follow up exploitation operations conducted yesterday along the Paya Kafiya–Garin Gada axis resulted in the recovery of the abandoned Volkswagen Golf vehicle, 25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition, one loaded AK-47 magazine, 15 empty PKT ammunition cases, assorted drugs, including paracetamol and nicotine products, as well as mechanical tools assessed to have supported terrorist logistics and sustainment activities.

He said the successful operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and the sustained offensive posture of Operation HADIN KAI in disrupting terrorist logistics, dismantling illicit revenue networks, and denying terrorists freedom of action across the North East Theatre.

” Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements and will continue to conduct intelligence-driven offensive operations, in synergy with other security agencies and with the continued support of law-abiding citizens, until terrorism is decisively defeated and enduring peace, security, and stability are fully restored across the region,”the statement read.
