I Left Acting And Travelled Abroad To Take Care Of My Children- Bukky Wright

By Samuel Abulude

‎Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has opened up on why she left Nigeria and the movie industry.

While speaking with Morayo Afolabi Brown on her TV show, she opened up on motherhood, legacy, confronting the last and more.

Bukky disclosed that she left Nigeria because of her children and would do it again. She apologised to her fans, supporters and lovers for leaving them heartbroken when she quit the industry.

“I left this country many years ago because of my children, and I will do it over and over again if I had to.

‎At this point, I think I have to apologise. I am so sorry I left you guys without letting you know. Mama duty called.

‎Bukky also spoke on the inspiration for her first cinema movie, Omatara Johnson. She disclosed that her fans were asking for the movie, hence why she did it.

‎The veteran said she didn’t tell people she was working on a new movie because she has learnt that things manifest better when one keeps it to one’s heart.

‎“I didn’t tell people I was coming back. A lot of people didn’t know I was shooting because I have learnt something: what you keep to your heart manifests better.

‎Thanks to my son and my team; they pulled the marketing strategy together”.

Recall that two years ago, Bukky made her fans go wild with joy as she returned to the screen after taking a break from the industry. Sharing a teaser of the new film, the project director noted how people asked for Bukky Wright to be among the cast, and she headed to their calls.

In a previous interview, the light-skinned veteran recalled how her children were taken away from her when they were young because she married into a wealthy family. Bukky said her in-laws never thought she would amount to anything or become a star. According to the veteran, she started acting so that her children could find her when they grew up.

In 2014, Bukky’s four-year marriage to Adewale Onitiri had crashed. According to reports, the crack in their marriage became wider due to the former couple’s distance.

‎The famous actress was also married to Gboyega Amu (father of her two sons), a well-known journalist, Femi Davies, and then Bolaji Basia.

‎In an interview, the delectable actress, who has been married four times, revealed that she was open to giving marriage a fifth chance. She, however, made it known that if God forbade her from getting married, she wouldn’t.
