The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for acquiring two surveillance aircraft to strengthen security operations in the state, describing the move as a demonstration of visionary leadership and a commitment to protecting lives and property.

In a statement issued by its national chairman, Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the party said the procurement of the two DA 42 MNG surveillance aircraft, valued at ₦7.7 billion, reflects the Oyo State Government’s determination to tackle insecurity through intelligence-driven operations.

According to the APM, the aircraft are equipped with advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities that can identify targets from both high and low altitudes, making them valuable assets in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The party noted that the aircraft would complement the operations of security agencies and the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, in efforts to improve security across the state.

APM stated that the acquisition aligns with Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which provides that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.

The party praised Governor Makinde’s leadership, describing him as a resourceful administrator who has demonstrated managerial competence and political foresight in safeguarding lives and property while promoting development in Oyo State.

It further lauded what it described as the governor’s inclusive style of governance, urging residents of the state to continue supporting his administration.

“The well-being of the people remains the hallmark of democratic governance,” the party said, adding that APM would continue to prioritise policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

The party also highlighted its governance record in Oyo and Bauchi states, stating that its focus remains on delivering the dividends of democracy rather than allowing insecurity to undermine national development.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general election, APM expressed confidence that Makinde, whom it identified as its presidential candidate, would replicate his leadership style and security initiatives across Nigeria if elected president.

According to the party, Makinde possesses the political will and administrative capacity to strengthen national security, promote unity and place the country on the path of sustainable growth and development.

The APM called on Nigerians to support the party and its candidates in future elections, saying such support would contribute to improved national security, unity and prosperity.
