Nimrod Hails Customs Chief Adeniyi For Driving Nigeria Volleyball’s Rise

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has praised the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, for his sustained investment in the growth and development of volleyball in Nigeria.

Nimrod paid tribute to the Customs boss after Nigeria’s triumph at the 2026 African U-18 Boys’ Volleyball Championship, where the national team defeated Egypt to claim the continental title in Alexandria on Wednesday.

The NVBF President, who also serves as President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, described Adeniyi as a steadfast supporter whose contributions have strengthened the federation since the beginning of his administration.

He said the Nigeria Customs Service has played a pivotal role in improving the standard of the sport, particularly through its backing of the national elite volleyball league, which has become more competitive and has provided players with greater opportunities to develop their skills and gain exposure.

According to Nimrod, the Customs Service has also extended vital support to Nigeria’s national volleyball teams, contributing to their recent successes on the continental stage.

“I want to thank the Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi for the tremendous support it has given the Nigeria Volleyball Federation,” Nimrod said.

“We will continue to seek the support of the Nigeria Customs Service in the years ahead because the Comptroller-General has remained one of the federation’s strongest pillars.”

The NVBF President also commended Adeniyi for creating employment opportunities for volleyball players through the Nigeria Customs Service, describing the initiative as a significant boost to the welfare and career development of athletes.

“It has been brought to my attention that a significant number of volleyball players have been employed by the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.

“The Nigeria Volleyball Federation is delighted with this development, and we look forward to sustaining and strengthening our partnership with the Service for the continued growth of volleyball in Nigeria.”

Nigeria’s victory over Egypt to win the African U-18 Boys’ Volleyball Championship has been hailed as another milestone for the sport, with federation officials attributing the success to increased investment, improved player development and strong institutional support.
