Police Arraign NDLEA Operative Over Alleged Defilement Of 8-Year-Old Girl

The Bauchi State Police Command, has arraigned a 45-year-old operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Muhammad Makama, over alleged defiling of an eight-year-old girl.

The command said the suspect was arrested in connection with the alleged defilement of a minor as part of its sustained efforts to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in the state.

Police said the incident was reported to ‘E’ Division Yelwa, Bauchi, on July 5, 2026 by the 32-year-old mother of the victim, who resides at Dorawan Dillalai, Bauchi.

The complainant alleged that Muhammad Makama of the same address, lured her 8-years-old daughter into his room and defiled her.

The Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Nafiu Habib said in a statement upon receipt of the report, police operatives immediately swung into action.

He added that the victim was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment, adding that the suspect was also taken to the same facility for treatment after being assaulted by some angry members of the community, and was subsequently discharged.

The case was investigated at the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi before prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the act in the strongest terms.

Aliyu assured the public that the Command will ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.

He urged parents, guardians, and community members to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity involving children to the nearest police station.
