The publication includes academic certificates, declarations, and other documents submitted by the candidates to support their nominations for the presidential election.

Under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, INEC is required to publish the personal particulars of candidates within 21 days of receiving them to enable members of the public to scrutinise the documents and, where necessary, challenge any information they consider to be false through the appropriate legal process.

The publication is part of the commission’s statutory obligations under the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election.
Campaigns for the presidential election are scheduled to commence on August 19, in accordance with the timetable released by INEC, ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
