Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Mohammed Danmaliki, who represented Bauchi federal constituency, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Danmaliki formally declared his membership of the PRP during a ceremony held at the party’s office in Majidadi B Ward in Bauchi metropolis on Saturday, saying his decision was driven by principle and a desire to serve the people better.

He said his defection was not merely a change of political party but a commitment to placing the interests of Nigerians above personal comfort and political convenience.

“After careful reflection, sincere consultation and prayerful consideration, I have decided to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and formally join the People’s Redemption Party (PRP),” he said.

“I do so without bitterness or malice, but with the firm belief that leadership must always respond to the cries of the people, and today those cries can no longer be ignored,” he said.

Danmaliki lamented the prevailing economic hardship across the country, noting that millions of families struggle daily to feed themselves, while unemployment, poor healthcare, and rising education costs continue to burden ordinary Nigerians.

According to him, the government exists to protect, empower and improve the welfare of the people rather than make life more difficult.

He described the PRP as a party founded on the ideals of social justice, accountability, honesty in public service, quality education, affordable healthcare, rural development and economic opportunity.

“The PRP is not merely a political platform; it is an idea and a commitment that public office is a sacred trust. The measure of any government is not the number of powerful people it serves, but the number of ordinary people whose lives it transforms,” he stated.

Danmaliki said Bauchi state possesses enormous agricultural, mineral and human resources capable of driving development, adding that what has been lacking is purposeful leadership and consistent implementation of people-oriented policies.

Reflecting on his public service career, he said he had remained committed to improving lives as a journalist, commissioner, member of the House of Representatives, entrepreneur, President of the Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA), and founder of educational and healthcare institutions.

On the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State, Danmaliki declared his support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar, describing him as “A man of courage, vision and commitment” whose ambition is focused on building a government that serves all citizens.

He pledged to deploy his political experience and network to ensure the success of the PRP in the state.

Receiving the former lawmaker into the party, PRP chairman of Majidadi B Ward, Alh. Ado Manca, described Danmaliki’s defection as a major political gain and assured him of the ward’s support in strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Also speaking, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, described Danmaliki’s entry into the PRP as a significant boost to the party, citing his political influence in Bauchi local government area and the state.

Represented by his media aide, Comrade Sabo Muhammad, Buba urged Danmaliki and other party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the PRP and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
