Kaduna APC Chieftain Dismisses Revived Allegations Against Uba Sani

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Kaduna State, Baba Jibril, has dismissed renewed allegations against Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, describing them as politically motivated and lacking any legal basis.

Jibril, who stated this on Tuesday in Abuja, was reacting to the circulation of reports based on a 2006 petition against the governor.

He argued that the allegations had neither been established by any court nor resulted in prosecution by any anti-corruption agency.

According to him, Nigerians should assess the governor on his record in public service rather than what he described as recycled allegations intended to discredit him.

He said Sani’s involvement in the pro-democracy movement, including his activities in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and the Campaign for Democracy, reflected his commitment to democratic governance long before he ventured into elective politics.

The APC chieftain also pointed to Sani’s legislative record as senator representing Kaduna Central, noting that he sponsored several bills, including the Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BOFIA) Act 2022, which he said strengthened reforms in Nigeria’s financial sector.

Jibril further cited what he described as the governor’s achievements since assuming office in May 2023, including improvements in security, healthcare, education and financial inclusion.

He said the administration had upgraded primary healthcare centres across the state, expanded access to education through reduced tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions, re-enrolled out-of-school children and implemented initiatives aimed at improving financial inclusion for vulnerable residents.

On the revived allegations, Jibril maintained that if the 2006 petition had contained credible evidence of wrongdoing, it would have led to prosecution or sanctions long before Sani became governor.

He also alleged that those reviving the claims were attempting to divert public attention from ongoing investigations into the financial affairs of the immediate past administration in Kaduna State.

Jibril expressed confidence that the governor would remain focused on governance despite the renewed criticisms.

He called on Nigerians to judge Governor Sani by his performance in office, insisting that his administration remained committed to transparency, accountability and inclusive development.
