Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Taraba State, Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for signing three Executive Orders, aimed at tackling political thuggery, drug abuse and illegal mining in the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo, Shiddi said the governor’s action demonstrated a commitment to addressing some of the critical security, social and environmental challenges confronting the state.

He expressed confidence that the orders would contribute to creating a safer and more peaceful environment, particularly if they were implemented fairly, transparently and without political bias.
Shiddi, particularly commended the Executive Order against political thuggery, saying its effective enforcement would guarantee a level playing field for all political parties and candidates during the 2027 electioneering period.

According to him, political actors must be allowed to canvass support and conduct their campaigns freely without fear of intimidation, harassment or violence.
“The Executive Order against political thuggery has the potential to promote a peaceful political atmosphere and guarantee a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.

“I therefore welcomed the government’s move to tackle drug abuse and illegal mining, because the two challenges posed serious threats to the state’s youths, natural resources and long-term development,” he said.

He further said that, the fight against drug abuse was critical to safeguarding young people from criminality and other social vices, while decisive action against illegal mining would help protect the environment and preserve the state’s mineral resources.

While pledging his support for the Executive Orders, Shiddi urged the Taraba State Government and relevant security agencies to ensure their strict, transparent and impartial implementation.

He stressed that, the enforcement of the orders must not be selective, insisting that no individual, political party or group should be regarded above the law.

The APGA candidate further called on his supporters and other political stakeholders in the state to remain peaceful, respect the law and avoid acts capable of undermining public order.
