Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has donated three new buses to the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) to enhance their operations.

The governor presented the buses when the leadership of organised labour in the state, led by the NLC chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, visited him at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House, Lokoja.

The visit provided an opportunity for the labour leaders to commend the governor over his commitment to workers’ welfare and raise issues affecting civil servants in the state.

During the meeting, Governor Ododo thanked civil servants, particularly labour leaders, for their support for his administration.

He praised his special adviser on Labour, Comrade Onuh Edoka, for serving as a bridge between the government and organised labour, while also applauding labour leaders for maintaining close collaboration with the NLC chairman and the special adviser.

Ododo said his administration had constituted a committee to look into various issues affecting civil servants, assuring workers that the government would fulfil its promises to them.
Earlier, Edoka thanked the governor for granting the labour leadership an audience and for his continued support for workers’ welfare.

He particularly commended the regular payment of workers’ salaries and other benefits provided by the administration.

Also speaking, NLC chairman, Amari, thanked the governor for addressing several challenges confronting civil servants and organised labour in the state.

“We thank Governor Ododo for procuring three new buses and donating them to NLC, TUC and other unions. We really appreciate you, sir,” Amari said.

The labour leaders pledged their continued cooperation with the state government to sustain industrial harmony and improve service delivery across the state.
