The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, for allegedly attempting to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.

The Command in a statement signed by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, said the incident occurred on August 12, 2026.

According to the statement, the suspect, who had been married for about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.

The police said a distress call was received from an unidentified woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi, who reported the incident to the Command.

“Upon receiving the report, operatives of ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, swiftly mobilised to the scene.

“The victim was immediately evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” the statement said.

The Command added that the suspect was promptly arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly made a confessional statement admitting to the offence.

It further disclosed that an empty bottle suspected to have contained poison, alongside remnants of the food, were recovered and registered as exhibits.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation.

The suspect, the Command said, would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The police command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order across the state.

It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
