Taraba APC Initiates Reconciliation As Primary Dispute Persists

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has commenced moves to reconcile aggrieved members ahead of the 2027 general elections, amid lingering grievances linked to the party’s governorship primary election.

The latest move followed growing concerns that unresolved internal disputes could undermine the party’s efforts to build a united platform capable of challenging its political opponents in the state.

The party’s reconciliation drive is coming against the backdrop of complaints by supporters of former minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, over issues arising from the governorship primary.

Sambo’s continued stay in the APC, despite the grievances, has added another dimension to the party’s internal crisis, with political observers contending that his decision has kept the issue within the party and placed pressure on its leadership to address the concerns.

The former minister had recently dismissed speculation that he was planning to leave the APC, reaffirming his commitment to the party and his status as one of its founding members in the state.

His decision to remain in the party has consequently shifted attention to the capacity of the APC leadership to resolve the outstanding grievances before the 2027 electoral campaigns gain full momentum.

It was against this backdrop that, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, recently visited the state, where he interacted with party stakeholders, while celebrating his birthday in the state.

The visit has further renewed discussions about the need to reconcile competing interests within the party and strengthen its structures ahead of the general elections.

Speaking on the development, the Taraba APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Aaron Artimas, said the party was determined to resolve internal differences and approach the elections as a united force.

Mr. Artemis disclosed that reconciliation committees had been inaugurated across the three senatorial zones last Monday to engage aggrieved members and facilitate dialogue.

He urged members with grievances to take advantage of the reconciliation process, stressing that unity remained essential to the party’s electoral ambitions.

According to him, the APC wants all members to work together and ensure that the party enters the 2027 elections as “one family.”

The unfolding reconciliation process is expected to determine whether the APC can successfully close ranks and prevent lingering internal disputes from becoming a major challenge to its preparations for the 2027 elections in Taraba State.
