Allied People’s Movement (APM) has described Nigerian youths as patriotic and resilient, highlighting their contributions to the country’s development. It promised greater youth inclusion in governance if the party wins the 2027 presidential election.

The party issued a statement by its national chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, to mark this year’s International Youth Day, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

The APM said that although young people across the world face different national and local realities, their aspirations remain largely similar, including the desire for dignity, economic opportunities, meaningful participation in governance, decent employment, quality education and a sustainable future.

According to the party, Nigerian youths have continued to demonstrate resilience despite the numerous challenges confronting the country. The APM also recalled the role young Nigerians played in the struggle for independence in 1960, noting that youths have remained at the forefront of Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development.

The party highlighted the achievements of Nigerian youths in areas including sports, education and technological innovation, saying their accomplishments have brought recognition and honour to the country.

The APM said it is a youth-centred political party and pledged to implement policies to empower young people at all levels of government where it holds political power.

It further stated that its presidential candidate, Engr Seyi Makinde, had demonstrated what it described as exceptional leadership as governor of Oyo State and possesses a blueprint for youth development, advancement and empowerment.

“The party’s youth programme and initiatives will also be implemented in governments at all levels where APM is in power,” the statement said.

The party urged Nigerian youths to identify with the APM and support its candidates in the 2027 elections, arguing that young people have a central role to play in building a strong, progressive, inclusive and prosperous democratic nation.

The APM also called for the creation of an enabling environment that would allow Nigerian youths to realise their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Let us use the occasion of the International Youth Day to appreciate and recognise Nigerian youth and create an enabling environment that will spur them to greatness,” the party said.
