The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has raised the alarm over the activities of fraudsters posing as Commission officials or agents and demanding money from Tour Operators and intending pilgrims in exchange for guaranteed 2027 Hajj slots.

In a circular issued in Abuja, NAHCON warned that no individual, agent, Tour Operator or intermediary is authorised to collect any payment, facilitation fee or additional charge for securing, guaranteeing or influencing Hajj slot allocations.

The Commission said slot allocations are conducted strictly in accordance with approved procedures and guidelines governing the licensing and operations of Hajj Tour Operators.

It described anyone soliciting money in exchange for guaranteed Hajj slots as acting illegally and without its authorisation, urging members of the public to report such individuals to the police or other relevant law enforcement agencies.

NAHCON advised intending pilgrims to make payments only through approved channels, including State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, designated Hajj Savings Banks and duly licensed Tour Operators.

It also urged pilgrims to disregard unsolicited calls, messages and demands for additional payments purportedly linked to Hajj slot allocations and to rely only on official communications from NAHCON and other authorised Hajj bodies.

The Commission reminded stakeholders that allocated slots will be forfeited if pilgrims’ data are not uploaded by 26 September 2026, while required remittances must be completed by 2 December 2026.

NAHCON stressed that no promise or assurance from an unauthorised individual can override these deadlines.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair and orderly 2027 Hajj operation and urged stakeholders to remain vigilant and obtain information only through its official channels.
