Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has enough achievements to present to Nigerians as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Akpabio said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had recorded significant achievements in the last three years, particularly in the economy, agriculture, security, education and fiscal policy.

He stated this on Monday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, wheh he received members of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), led by its chairman, Senator Dandutse Mohammed, at his residence.

According to a statement issued by his special assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio said the Tinubu administration inherited an economy in difficult circumstances but had introduced reforms that had improved the situation.

“The current President has done a lot for Nigerians. He met an economy in shambles. When he came in, 27 states could not pay salaries and pensions, but today, the story has changed because of his reengineering and thinking outside the box.

“In 2027, Nigerians will separate the chaffs from the grains and re-elect President Tinubu for a second term in office.”

The Senate President said the administration had introduced innovations that would provide the APC with substantial achievements to present to Nigerians during the 2027 election campaign.

“We have a President who thinks outside the box, bringing about innovation. We will have something to tell Nigerians about the unprecedented achievements of Mr President at the campaign grounds.

“Someone who is challenging him cannot even tell us what he did when he was governor. I can tell you what I did when I was the governor of my state. We will tell them a lot.”

Akpabio further claimed that opposition politicians were aware of the achievements of the Tinubu administration but were reluctant to acknowledge them because of their political positions.

“Those in the opposition know too well the achievements of this government in the areas of the economy, agriculture, security, education and fiscal policy, but because they are in the opposition, they won’t say it,” he said.

The Senate President also commended the 10th National Assembly, saying it had made significant progress under his leadership and would continue to collaborate with the executive to deliver more benefits to Nigerians.

“The 10th Senate under my leadership has made giant strides and we are very proud of it. We will continue to collaborate with the Executive arm of government to achieve more for Nigerians.

“Even in this period of our annual vacation, you are here in Uyo doing your job. We don’t need to listen to social media because it is garbage in, garbage out.”

Akpabio also assured senators who may not return to the 11th Senate of continued appreciation for their loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu.

He urged them to remain committed to the progress of the party and the success of the administration.

Earlier, Senator Dandutse Mohammed said the committee was in Akwa Ibom State to carry out its constitutional responsibilities and pay homage to the Senate President.

He commended Akpabio’s leadership of the Senate and the legislative measures enacted by the 10th Senate, particularly those relating to education.

“We are here today for a very important constitutional responsibility and to pay homage to our leader, the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Under your leadership, we have enacted laws that are benefiting the Nigerian masses.”

Mohammed said Nigerian parents were benefiting from the establishment of NELFUND and other education-related initiatives.

He explained that the committee was in Akwa Ibom for sensitisation and oversight activities concerning infrastructure projects executed by TETFund.

“Nigerian parents are happy because of NELFUND and TETFund. We are in Akwa Ibom State for sensitisation and oversight of all the infrastructure executed by TETFund.

“This law is fundamental to the success story of the development of Nigeria because education is key to success,” he said.
