Bauchi Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Over Alleged Drug Trafficking, Recover Methylene Chloride

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspected drug dealer, Aliyu Suleman, and recovered 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride and 17 pieces of rubber solution from him.

Suleman, a resident of Tudun Salmanu area of Bauchi State, was arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Bayan Gari in the Bauchi metropolis on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Nafiu Habib.

According to Habib, operatives of the Vehicle Crime Response Unit intercepted the suspect at about 5pm during the operation.

He said a search conducted on Suleman led to the recovery of 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as “Suck and Die,” and 17 pieces of rubber solution.

“The suspect was intercepted during a routine intelligence-led operation. Upon search, the following exhibits were promptly recovered from the suspect: 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as ‘Suck and Die’, and 17 pieces of Rubber Solutions,” the statement read.

The police said the recovered substances had been seized and registered as exhibits, while the suspect remained in custody and was cooperating with investigators.

According to the command, Suleman would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling the distribution and abuse of harmful substances across the state.

He directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the sale and abuse of illicit drugs and other harmful substances.

The command also urged parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely information on suspected drug-related activities.

“The fight against drugs and substance abuse requires a collective approach,” the statement noted.
