Hull City Sink Coventry To Make It Two Wins From Two Games

Hull City continued their stunning return to the Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Coventry City on Saturday, making it two wins from two matches.

Liam Millar struck eight minutes from time to settle a closely contested encounter at the Coventry Building Society Arena and maintain Hull’s perfect start to the campaign. 

The Tigers had already announced themselves on their return to the top flight with a remarkable 2-0 victory over Manchester United on the opening weekend, and they followed it up with another disciplined display against fellow newly promoted Coventry.

Coventry, meanwhile, were seeking to recover from their 3-0 defeat by reigning champions Arsenal in their opening fixture, but were left frustrated after failing to convert their opportunities despite enjoying the better of the contest for long periods. 

After a goalless first half, Hull eventually broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute. Mohamed Belloumi provided the decisive pass for substitute Millar, who kept his composure to fire past the Coventry goalkeeper and give the visitors a precious three points. 

Coventry pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Hull’s defence held firm to secure another clean sheet and a second consecutive victory.

The result leaves Hull among the early pace-setters in the Premier League, while Coventry remain without a point after two matches.
