For effective air operations, 17 officers from the Nigeria Army, Air Force, Navy and those from Cameroon and Benin Republic have been inaugurated to undergo the Nigerian Air Force War College Course 9/ 2023 training in Makurdi.

The commandant, Air Force War College, Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole who disclosed this during the inauguration in Makurdi, described the college as the highest professional military institution in the Nigerian Air Force established in 2016 to develop the capacity of middle cadre officers in operational planning and management to employ air power effectively.

He said: “The course we are about to commence is designed to equip you with the essential competencies you would need to proffer creative solutions to the complex security challenges bedeviling the country.

“The feedback from frontline units of operation after the  completion of the course is very encouraging, that is why our allies from neighbouring countries are also sending their officers to join ours in the Air War College training which will sharpen the  understanding of air power  and its employment in independent joint and combined operations.”

Earlier, the guest of honour, Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command Makurdi, Air Vice Marshal Precious Amadi, said; “We are in the era where Nigerian armed forces are grappling with unprecedented security challenges.

“To address these challenges require creativity, innovation and visionary operational leadership which the college curriculum seeks to advance in the Nigerian Air Force in line with the vision of its founders. The Nigerian Air Force has been evolving to adapt to the country’s myriad of threats through the actualisation of the mission of the college which is to develop qualitative manpower in the field of air power for effective conduct of air operations and efficient utilisation of air power concepts and strategy for officers of the NAF, sister services and friendly nations.”

Air Vice Marshal Amadi urged participants to be fully committed to benefit from the objectives of the programme, adding that the knowledge and skills acquired were critical in achieving the vision of the Chief of Air Staff in repositioning the Nigerian Air Force for effectiveness and efficiency.
