The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has disowned a circulating message announcing an alleged Education Support Fund for MSc students, describing the information as false and unauthorised.
In a disclaimer dated September 4, 2026 the commission said it was not currently receiving applications for any MSc Education Support Fund as contained in the widely circulated message.
The purported announcement reportedly contains application requirements and directs prospective applicants to submit documents at the NEDC office in Polo, Maiduguri.
The NEDC urged members of the public, prospective applicants and other stakeholders to completely disregard the information.
It warned people against submitting sensitive personal documents—including NIN slips, admission letters, identity cards and indigene certificates—to individuals or locations claiming to represent NEDC in connection with the purported programme.
