A 30-year-old meat seller, identified as Ibrahim Sodiq, has reportedly hacked his 25-year-old wife, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, to death following a marital disagreement in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Sodiq, popularly known as Alfa Eleran, was said to have attacked the woman with a machete on Wednesday in the Dallimore area of the city.

The couple, who hailed from Kogi State, had reportedly been experiencing domestic challenges, which culminated in a heated altercation.

Sources close to the family said the couple had gone to the residence of one Lamidi, a friend of the deceased’s father, who had offered to mediate in their unresolved marital dispute.

A source said Kehinde had previously left her husband’s home because of what were described as irreconcilable differences.

“I am aware they had issues in the marriage to the extent that the lady had left the man’s house due to some irreconcilable differences,” the source said.

“But recently, there were efforts by the suspect to resolve the issue with her, which the deceased was not comfortable with.”

The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation while efforts were being made to resolve the dispute.

Sodiq allegedly used a machete to inflict multiple injuries on his wife, leaving her critically wounded.

The woman subsequently died from the injuries, while the suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Her remains were said to have been deposited at a morgue.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ekiti State Police Command had not officially commented on the incident.
