The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council in Kano North Senatorial District to mobilise voters and deliver an across-the-board victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.

Barau gave the charge on Tuesday while inaugurating the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council, declaring “APC SAK” as the campaign slogan and urging party members and stakeholders to unite ahead of the elections.

The campaign council is expected to mobilise support across the 13 local government areas in the district for President Bola Tinubu, Barau, Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Yusuf, as well as APC candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Barau tasked members of the council, chaired by the Managing Director of the Hadeja-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Engr. Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, with intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.

The Deputy Senate President described the campaign council as an all-inclusive arrangement involving stakeholders at the ward, local government and senatorial district levels.

“This is an all-inclusive arrangement. Everybody is involved, and all stakeholders are part and parcel of this council. This has always been our system, and it is one of the reasons we have continued to succeed in Kano North. This election will not be an exception, by God’s grace,” Barau said.

He tasked the council with galvanising party members and supporters to secure what he described as overwhelming victories for all APC candidates, beginning with President Tinubu, himself as the senator representing Kano North, members of the House of Representatives, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and APC candidates for the State House of Assembly.

Barau also urged APC members to put the outcome of the party’s primary elections behind them, stressing that the exercise was over and that all members remained part of the same political family.

He said competition for party tickets was normal in a democracy but urged those who emerged victorious to work with aspirants who contested but did not secure the tickets.

“You can see that many of those who contested the primaries but did not secure the tickets are here today. They understand that the party belongs to all of us, and that the victory of the party is ultimately their own victory,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the campaign council, its Chairman, Engr. Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, pledged to mobilise support for all APC candidates from the presidential level down to the State House of Assembly.

Bichi described Senator Barau as a strong and “sellable” candidate, saying his interventions and contributions had left visible footprints across Kano State.

He said the council comprised seasoned politicians and grassroots mobilisers, expressing confidence that its members would work together to deliver the highest possible number of votes for APC candidates in Kano North and beyond.
