ICPC Quizzes Ekiti APC Rep Candidate Over Alleged Fraud

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ise-Orun/Ikere/Ekiti South-West federal constituency 2027 elections in Ekiti State, Engr. Toyin Zacheous Okoro, Thursday, appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) where he was quizzed by the operatives of the in Abuja over allegation of fraud.

Before clinching the APC ticket, Okoro was a Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.

The Ekiti APC chieftain arrived at the ICPC headquarters at about 2pm following a formal invite dated September 7, 2026, titled ‘Investigation Activities – Notice of Invitation’, and signed by Oshinyemi Oluwaseun, ICPC Head of Special Duty Team, on behalf of the chairman of the anti-graft agency.

According to the notice of invitation made available to LEADERSHIP, the ICPC was investigating Okoro over alleged violation of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.

“Pursuant to section 28 & 40 of the above cited Act, you are kindly required to appear before the undersigned at the Commission’s headquarters, Abuja on 17 September 2026 by 10am prompt.

“Additionally, you may wish to come with a lawyer or any individual of your choice,” the notice stated.

The APC candidate was said to have been invited because while he was serving as SLA at the National Assembly, which made him a public servant, he was operating as the MD/CEO of a private company, contrary to public service rules.

That, he allegedly used his position as a public servant to secure public contracts in Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), NASENI, amongst others, for his private company.

It was gathered that when his alleged offences were reported to anti-graft agencies, he allegedly falsified his resignation letters and backdated same as defense for his actions.

Okoro was also accused of receiving salaries and allowances from the National Assembly concurrently with being beneficial owner of the said private company.

That, he lied on oath in his submissions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) based on the evidence at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and National Assembly.

However, Okoro was eventually released on bail at about 5 p.m. to report back for further engagement with the ICPC investigators at a later date.
